A patient experience that felt generic and disconnected

El Camino Hospital's digital platform was failing to engage patients in a meaningful way. Critical information — clinic locations, phone numbers, maps, and the doctors supporting their care — was buried or hard to find. Patients felt distant from the people and places meant to support them, and low engagement levels reflected that disconnect.

El Camino Hospital — challenge

Colorful, interactive widgets designed around how patients actually look for help

I focused on the interactable parts of the patient-facing UI, designing a library of colorful, scannable widgets that surfaced the most critical information immediately — clinic locations with embedded maps, direct phone numbers, doctor profiles, and community resources. Each widget was built for quick retrieval, reducing the cognitive effort required to find what patients needed. The goal was to make patients feel closer to their care community through a warmer, more responsive digital experience.

El Camino Hospital — approach

Higher engagement and a platform scaled across healthcare organizations

The interactive widget library measurably improved how patients engaged with the platform. Addresses, maps, and contact information became immediately accessible without digging through static pages. The platform was subsequently licensed and scaled to additional healthcare organizations, validating the widget-driven approach as a repeatable, marketable solution across the industry.
